Wavemakers ~
Women in Music 40+
is a movement setting new standards,
creating connections, and opportunities
for Females 40+ in the Music Industry.
Founded in 2023, Wavemakers started a much needed dialogue about the unique challenges and advantages of being a Female 40+ in the Music Industry.
Created by Austin Singer-Songwriter Lurleen Ladd, Wavemakers was born out of Lurleen’s desire to help others after overcoming personal struggles and following her passion for music.
Wavemakers came to fruition after the release of Lurleen’s second album, ‘No Goin’ Back and correlating ‘Sing Out Loud’ challenge. Lurleen created the ‘Sing Out Loud’ challenge - encouraging other women to share their stories, dreams and aspirations in the music industry with a chance to be the opening act for her album release concert.
The nationwide response was humbling - women were eager to share their stories. We listened and thus, Wavemakers was born.
Wavemakers officially launched on Friday, March 31st with the first annual Wavemakers~Women in Music 40+ panel, held at Antone’s Austin - Home of The Blues.
A panel and platform created to elevate and support our community of Women 40+ in the Music Industry and start a much needed dialogue about the unique challenges and advantages they face.
